Stål Tables FAQ | Production Worktable Questions Answered | Amcad & Graphics

Tops & Shelves

Standard Kit

Materials for the top work surface and shelves such as plywood, MDF, and melamine are not included in the standard kit. Stål Tables believes these materials can be sourced more cost-effectively from your local vendor.

Detailed drawings and instructions for fabricating and installing these elements are provided along with all necessary hardware. Optional sheet wood packages are available if you prefer a turnkey solution.

Wood Packages

Stål Tables offers optional wood packages for tops and shelves. You can choose from:

  • MDF Package — Medium-density fiberboard, a solid and cost-effective work surface.
  • White Melamine Package — Plastic-coated white surface that is easy to wipe down and maintain.

Ask about wood packages when you submit your quote request through Amcad & Graphics.

Cost Savings

Sourcing sheet wood locally from a lumber yard or home improvement store is often the most cost-effective option, especially for larger orders. Local sourcing also allows you to inspect the material before use and choose specific grades or finishes.

The wood packages from Stål Tables are ideal when convenience is the priority or when local sourcing is not practical for your situation. Stål Tables provides exact cut dimensions so local cutting is straightforward.

Sizing & Customization

Custom Sizes Available

Yes. Table sizes can be tailored to your specific needs. The default sizes are 5x5 and 5x10, but custom dimensions are available. Common custom sizes include:

  • 4x8
  • 4x12
  • 5x8
  • 5x12

Custom height, load capacity upgrades to 14-gauge steel, and high-capacity casters can also be specified. Price adjustments for materials may apply. Include your size requirements in your quote request.

Height Customization

Table heights can be customized at the time of order to your specific requirements. Due to the welded construction and modular nature of the tables, they are not height-adjustable after production.

The leveling feet standard on all tables do offer a limited amount of height adjustment after delivery, which is useful for leveling on uneven floors.

Modular Growth

Yes. The bolt-together modular design is specifically built for expansion. You can add new modules, top supports, shelf rails, and additional leg assemblies that integrate seamlessly with your existing setup.

This means your initial investment is protected as your shop grows. A 5x5 table today can become a 5x10 or longer configuration in the future without replacing your existing components.

Powder Coat Colors

The standard color is Silver. Optional basic colors include Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Black, White, Gray, and Clear. Custom RAL colors and custom finishes are available with an additional charge.

All tables receive a durable powder coat finish that protects the steel frame and maintains its appearance in demanding production environments.

Assembly & Tools

Assembly Time

Most tables can be assembled in 1 to 1.5 hours by a single person with the correct tools. Assembly time varies depending on the model and configuration.

Assembly instructions are typically emailed to table recipients prior to the arrival of the table kit so you can review the process and gather your tools in advance.

Required Tools

Recommended tools for assembly include:

  • Two 9/16-inch wrenches, sockets, or adjustable wrenches (substitute 7/16-inch for Medium Duty Tables)
  • Electric drill driver with a Phillips head bit, or a Phillips screwdriver
  • Rubber mallet for installing foot caps
  • Saw(s) for cutting sheet wood material for tops and shelves

Specific saw recommendations are typically emailed to recipients before the table kit arrives.

DIY Friendly

No professional installation is required. The bolt-together design is engineered for straightforward assembly by a single person with basic hand tools. The laser-cut brackets and bolt plates ensure precise alignment without specialized skills.

Detailed assembly instructions are provided with every order. Most shops have their tables up and running the same day the kit arrives.

Shipping & Delivery

LTL Freight

Tables are shipped flat-packed in a box on a pallet or skid (depending on the table model) via LTL freight truck (Less-Than-Truckload commercial truck). This method ensures the kit arrives safely and in a manageable form for unloading.

Stål Tables ships nationwide from their shop in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of North Texas. Delivery is made directly to your door.

Delivery Requirements

LTL freight deliveries typically require a loading dock or liftgate service at the destination. When requesting your quote, mention your facility's receiving capabilities so the appropriate delivery arrangement can be made.

Liftgate service (where the freight truck lowers the pallet to ground level) is often available as an add-on if your facility does not have a loading dock.

Lead Time

Because every table is made to order, lead times vary based on current production volume and the complexity of your configuration. Contact Amcad & Graphics or Stål Tables directly for current lead time estimates when you request your quote.
